8-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Refresher (Spanish)

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This annual refresher course is required for individuals with current OSHA HAZWOPER training certification. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

4-Hour Laboratory Safety

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

The course discusses the content of the OSHA Laboratory Standard (29CFR 1910.1450) and its appendices related to laboratories and the following specific topics: emergency response chemical hazard identification; MSDS’s for the laboratory, physical hazards; controlling chemical exposures; fume hood evaluations and chemical hygiene plans. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

2-Hour Bloodborne Pathogens

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets the training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1030.  It is designed to inform employees about the hazards and controls for dealing with exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.  Exposure control plans, methods of compliance, personal protective equipment requirements, housekeeping procedures, regulated waste requirements, recordkeeping, and label and sign requirements of the Bloodborne Pathogen standard are incorporated into this course. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

4-Hour Flagger Certification – American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA)

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This four-hour course is required for individuals who must stop or control traffic while working in a temporary traffic control zone.  Components of temporary traffic control zones, proper flagging station locations, selection of necessary flagging equipment, and various safety factors affecting roadway workers are presented during the course.  Hands-on exercises include stopping/controlling traffic in a controlled training environment.  Written and demonstration tests are administered at the end of the course. Students who successfully complete the course receive “Registered ATSSA Flagger” identification cards. The Flagger Certification is valid for 4-years from the course completion date.

2-Hour Welding, Cutting and Brazing

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course covers the recognition and abatement of hazards associated with welding, cutting, and brazing.  The students will learn the hazards of compressed gases and gas cylinders, and the health hazards associated with this type of work. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

1-Hour Electrical Safety

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course provides an understanding of the principles of electricity and the electrical hazards common to business and industry.  It examines the common electrical injuries to employees and how to prevent them.  You will learn how to recognize, evaluate, and control electrical hazards.  The course also covers safe work practices and OSHA regulatory compliance. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

1-Hour Machine Guarding

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course equips students with the knowledge needed for protection against the hazards of moving machinery.  Subpart O of 29 CFR 1910, “Machinery and Machine Guarding” will be covered as part of the course.  Topics will include guard design, methods of safeguarding, types of guards/devices, power presses, woodworking machinery, and abrasive wheel machinery.  AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

1-Hour Portable Fire Extinguishers

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets the training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.157.  It is designed to train employees about the four different types of fire extinguishers, proper use, and inspection procedures.  Students receive instruction on extinguisher labeling requirements and proper use of extinguishers.  Hands-on activities include discharging ABC fire extinguishers in a controlled training environment. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

2-Hour Lockout/Tagout

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets the training requirements of the OSHA Lockout/Tagout Standard (29 CFR 1910.147). This training is designed to prevent injury and death to service and maintenance workers from the unexpected energization or start up machinery or equipment.  Procedures for controlling hazardous energy are required when employees are required to remove or bypass a machine guard or other safety device; or place any body part into a machine where work is performed upon a material. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

4-Hour Forklifts and Powered Industrial Trucks

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets the training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.178 and is required for anyone who maintains or uses fork trucks, tractors, platform lift trucks, motorized hand trucks, and other specialized industrial trucks powered by electric motors or internal combustion engines.  The different designations of industrial trucks, acceptable operating locations, and safe operating procedures are presented.  AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.
