4-Hour Scaffolds

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets the training requirements of 29 CFR 1926.454 as it applies to erecting, inspecting, dismantling, fall protection and engaging in work on a scaffold.  The training will meet the employer requirement to have each employee trained by a competent person to recognize hazards associated with the work in question. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

2-Hour Ladders

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets the training requirements of 29 CFR 1926.1060 for portable ladders and covers the OSHA regulations for portable wood and metal ladders (1910.25, 1910.26).  The program will enable each student to recognize hazards related to ladders, correct procedures for erecting, maintaining, using, and inspecting ladders on the job site AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

4-Hour Fall Protection

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets the training requirements of 29 CFR 1926.503.  It introduces and discusses the three types of personal fall protection systems.  Topics covered include: the nature of fall hazards, personal fall arrest positioning devices, personal fall protection systems, inspection & care of equipment, full body harnesses, and fall protection programs. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

2-Hour Hazard Communication

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets the requirement for 29 CFR 1910.1200 (Hazard Communication) and explains the new format for chemical hazard information on chemical container labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as directed by OSHA in its 2012 changes to the Hazard Communication Standard. Each of the new chemical label’s elements is described: pictogram, signal word, hazard statement, and precautionary statement. The information found in each section of the newly formatted Safety Data Sheets is also reviewed. This course meets the training requirements for all employers who have employees who may be exposed to hazardous chemicals.  A PowerPoint presentation is utilized as a training aid. Participants receive a course manual and a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the course.

2-Hour Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets OSHA training requirements found in 29 CFR 1910. 132 and is ideal for individuals exposed to environmental, chemical, radiological, or mechanical hazards.  Course topics include performing workplace hazard assessments to determine when PPE is necessary, properly selecting, maintaining, using, and disposing of PPE. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

2-Hour Hearing Conservation

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course meets OSHA occupational noise exposure training requirements for employees exposed to noise at or above an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels.  Noise control methods, noise monitoring procedures, the advantages and disadvantages of various types of hearing protection devices are included in the course. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

2-Hour Respiratory Protection

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course is designed for anyone who is required to wear an air purifying or supplied air respirator.  The requirements of OSHA’s General Industry Respirator Standard are presented.  Hands-on activities include fit test demonstrations, inspecting, cleaning, wearing, and storing respirators. AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.

2-Hour PCB Awareness

This course is designed to assist building owners and abatement contractors who may be handling PCB-containing or PCB-contaminated building materials during planned renovation, repair, or abatement activities. Topics covered in this course include the health effects of PCBs, regulatory background, PCB-containing materials, demolition effects, PPE, and waste disposal. An AMA certificate is provided for each student upon successful completion of the course.

8-Hour First Aid/CPR/AED

This course is offered in English and Spanish.

This course provides life-saving skills, practiced during scenarios and featuring methods that replicate real life situations, on and off the job.  Students learn to recognize and safely respond to situations relative to their particular work environment that include scenarios such as, but not limited to, electrocutions, drug overdose, heat related illnesses, and collapse at home or on the job. Students also are taught how to respond to a heart attack and feel confident in using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

The course is designed to meet OSHA regulations. Students are provided course manuals, a ‘quick reference’ guide and an accompanying CD-ROM.  AMA’s CPR, AED and First Aid Training instructor is certified through The National Safety Council. The National Safety Council CPR, AED and First Aid training adheres to the standards of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).

AMA provides National Safety Council certificates to students after successful completion of the course. The CPR/AED training Certification is valid for 2-years from the course completion date. The First Aid training Certification is valid for 3-years from the course completion date.

AMA also offers American Red Cross approved First Aid/CPR/AED training upon request.

EM 385-1-1 (40-Hour Course Includes OSHA-30 for Construction)

This course provides detailed instruction on how contractors can comply with EM 385-1-1 standards.  The course covers the safety procedures and requirements set forth by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual EM 385-1-1 and incorporates the OSHA Construction Safety Standards.  Learn what the USACE requires of contractors in preparing Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), site-specific Accident Prevention Plans (APPs), Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) qualifications and responsibilities, personnel training requirements, jobsite inspections and incident reporting.  Identify the significant differences between the requirements of Federal OSHA and the Corp’s requirements for a comprehensive safety and health program.

Contractors working at military installations, NAVFAC, Air Force, USCG, CIA, DOE and USACE projects must comply with the requirements of USACE EM 385-1-1. This interactive course combines classroom instruction, demonstrations, hands-on exercises, desk-top scenarios, and tests to enhance student learning objectives AMA provides a certificate and pocket ID card for each student upon successful completion of the course.
